Founder's Message
It has been noted with deep concerns, a worrying trend in the availability, quality and readiness of resources in the country’s talent pool, especially amongst millennials. In a recent report by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) dated 3rd October 2023, it is startling to note that a substantial 72.1% of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates opt not to pursue higher education after their secondary education which is a serious national concern, particularly those from the lower income groups or the B40 category. No thanks to the over two years’ MCO moratorium during the peak of the COVID episode, many students, both rural and urban have off tracked from regular and mainstream education that has inadvertently lulled into a state of indifference among them. Such attitudinal dilemma, if not properly addressed and rectified timely will result in near-term headwinds that will weigh down competitiveness and productivity as our current system does not effectively support these “undeveloped talents” on the fringes. The missing puzzle in the workforce is a worrying issue that could scuttle the government’s plans to make Malaysia a high technology nation by 2030.
The Nihongo Asia Academy & Jobs is purpose-created to prepare students in facing these global challenges practically and head-on. It is our vision to empower young talents with better employment prospects and to move up the value chain, domestically and internationally.
Our program fills the gap for part-timers who left or completed secondary education and do not wish to continue into conventional tertiary education. The program offers valuable alternatives to educational and career path. Additionally, Japan’s success stories in research and development, technology, productivity & quality standards and culture has created a compelling and exciting environment, motivating young people to pursue their goals regardless of their circumstances.
My vision is for Nihongo Asia Academy & Jobs to act as a regional connector, a bridge to improving both quality of life and diversification of human resources skills. Learning and taking a leaf from Japan’s holistic approach, we value not only university graduates but also vocational graduates. In line with its primary objectives, the academy will consciously allocate 50% of its intake for deserving students from the lower income group, in which JLPT lessons will also be provided free of charge.

The world is undergoing immense change – economic, financial, geopolitical, and more. Witnessing the recent decline in post-SPM student completion rates particularly from the lower income groups due to COVID-related struggles , I’m deeply concerned. This drop creates a future workforce lacking productivity and polish, as our current system does not effectively support these “undeveloped talents” on the fringes.
That’s why Nihongo Asia Academy & Jobs exists: to prepare students to face these global challenges head-on. This initiative arose from a desire to counter the decline in Malaysia’s economic competitiveness due to a diminishing quality of employment opportunities. We also hope to empower young talents with better employment prospects, domestically and internationally.
My vision is for Nihongo Asia Academy & Jobs to act as a regional connector, improving both quality of life and diverse workforce skills. Learning from Japan’s holistic approach, we value not only university graduates, but also vocational school graduates. Both nations are rich with resources and possibilities, and I hope to reignite this interest among Malaysians.
